12 people are supporting Sprint Back to School

Sprint Back to School

One out of every two people on this planet struggles to feed and educate their children. When powered by opportunity, they have a chance to work their way out of poverty and transform their lives. For 40 years, Opportunity International has provided the savings, loans, training and insurance that all people need to create a better future for their families and their communities.

About this project

This week, we’re racing to raise $10,000 so children can sprint back to school this Fall! 124 million children and adolescents around the world aren’t in school. They are stuck in a generational cycle of poverty, and education is their best way out—yet it’s out of reach.

When you invest in education through Opportunity International, you ensure that more children can attend high-quality schools. School owners like Regina (left, bottom) receive financing to make improvements to their schools. Regina started with a one-room school in Kenya and has used Opportunity School Improvement Loans to buy textbooks and food for the children, pay teachers’ salaries and grow the school that now serves 80 students.

Opportunity School Fee Loans help hard-working parents afford the cost of tuition, books and uniforms so their children can attend school. School Fee Loans enabled client Caroline Musoke (left, middle) to keep all four of her grandchildren in school after a fire decimated her small business—and now she plans to send them to university.

Investing in schools and families means equipping the next generation to break free from the cycle of poverty for good.
