For millions of women and girls in the developing world, life is defined by exclusion and inequities. Women perform 66% of the world’s work but only earn 10% of the world’s income. Meanwhile, 130 million young girls aren’t in school—making it virtually impossible to end the generational poverty plaguing their families. From a young age, women are barred from the tools and resources they need to thrive and ignite lasting, generational change. We envision a different future.
This International Women's Day, join Opportunity International as we create opportunities for women by providing financial services, training, and support to help them grow their incomes, send their children to school, and end extreme poverty once and for all. Families are escaping poverty at unprecedented rates: in fact, more than a billion people have been lifted out of poverty over the last three decades. We are making progress. But we cannot stop. We turn our eyes and hearts now to the millions still facing the uncertainty of tomorrow, struggling to break free from the grip of poverty.
