7 people are supporting Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday

One out of every two people on this planet struggles to feed and educate their children. When powered by opportunity, they have a chance to work their way out of poverty and transform their lives. For 45 years, Opportunity International has provided the savings, loans, training and insurance that all people need to create a better future for their families and their communities.

About this project

Opportunity is celebrating #GivingTuesday by encouraging our generous supporters to empower families around the world. With your help, Opportunity International will take a stand against global poverty, create sustainable change and strengthen families. We hope you can use this day to find a way for your family, community or company to be a part of this national celebration of our country’s great tradition of generosity.

#GivingTuesday is an innovative movement that brings people together to address the world's most challenging issues. It is a special call-to-action that creates a national day of giving (December 3) around the annual shopping and spending season to inspire giving every day.#GivingTuesday celebrates giving and acts as an opening day to the holiday giving season. In 2012, #GivingTuesday had 2,700 partners across 50 states. It trended #1 nationally and globally during the day with over 800 press hits (59 million impressions) including NPR, CBS Evening News, ABC News, USA Today, the Huffington Post, Forbes, Mashable, the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times. The success demonstrated that the internet wanted to have a conversation about giving and be engaged.
