Yasmine Elena does her best to make a living for her husband and daughter in Soledad, Colombia. For many years she has run her own business, providing her customers with various cleaning supplies. However, due to a lack of business income, Yasmine had trouble diversifying her selection of products. She feared that without the means or knowledge about how to expand her shop, she and her husband would continue to struggle to support their daughter. When Yasmine heard about the loan and financial training she could receive from Opportunity International from one of her neighbors, she knew she had found the solution she had been looking for. She used her loan to purchase a more extensive selection of cleaning supplies and products to meet more of the needs of her community. This growth attracted new customers to her store and increased her sales significantly. In fact, because of her increase in business income, Yasmine was also able to hire an employee. Yasmine now hopes to use her new entrepreneurial expertise to open up more shops in her community, so that she can create jobs for others and help bring them out of poverty.
