Opportunity International Client Dorotea Delos Santos

Dorotea Delos Santos a hardworking mother of two living in Nueva Ecija. Dorotea runs a small convenience store in their village. She sells a wide variety of groceries and household goods, and her store has become her family’s main source of income. However, she struggled to afford her family’s daily expenses, especially with her children’s rising school fees. Dorotea was determined to invest in her store and to start another business to increase her income, but she did not have the capital she needed. Everything began to change when she joined Opportunity International. She received valuable financial training and a loan, which she intends to use to purchase stock for her store in bulk. She hopes that by expanding her selection of merchandise, she will be able to meet more of her neighbors’ needs, sell to more customers, and increase her profits. Dorotea plans on starting a wholesale business in the future with her savings so she can give her children the best education and to raise her family out of poverty.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
