Rosario González lives in the coastal city of Montería with her two children. She is funny and enthusiastic, and she faces every challenge in life with a smile. Rosario owns and operates a “miscellany shop”, a small business common in Colombian cities, where she sells a variety of products. This kind of shops usually has a high rate of stock rotation, since they usually sell products that are fashionable for some months, which clients suddenly start and then stop demanding. Rosario´s greatest challenge before joining Opportunity International was staying afloat in the market without the support of a financial entity: her credit profile was marked as high risk by traditional banks and the amount she was asking for was considered too small. One day, an Opportunity loan officer approached Rosario at her shop to offer her what would be her first loan. Rosario used it to buy merchandise in bulk to open several new product lines. Rosario´s dream is to have a big shop where her neighbors can find anything they need and which will guarantee her children´s education.
