Opportunity International Client Sarah Jane Bernolo

Sara Jane is a single mother providing for her family by running a small general store near her home. She sells a wide variety of groceries and household goods, and the shop is her family's primary source of income. Despite her hard work, her family often struggles to afford their daily expenses, including diapers and milk for her children. Sara Jane was determined to improve her business and to make it more profitable, but she didn’t have the capital she needed after feeding her family.

Sara Jane found the solution to her business troubles when she joined Opportunity International. She is receiving valuable financial training and a loan, which she plans to use to purchase stock for her store in bulk. By expanding the selection and amount of goods available at her store, she hopes that she will be able to meet more of her neighbors’ needs, sell to more customers and increase her profits. She also plans to save so she can ensure that her children will have a better future.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original clients loan was dispursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your inital gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
