Opportunity International Client Durley Zapata

Durley is a young entrepreneur who lives in Cúcuta, Colombia. She has worked for years to accomplish her dreams of owning a business and to cover her household expenses, but it has not been easy. She owns a clothing store where she sells women’s and children’s clothing to earn a living, and although her store has a wide variety of merchandise, she has struggled to restock it.

Durley found the solution to her business troubles when her friend encouraged her to join Opportunity International. She received financial training and a loan, which she used to purchase new styles of clothing to sell, and she hopes that she will be prepared to meet all of her customers’ needs during the busiest shopping days of the year. Durley has already attracted more customers to her store with her recent investment and hopes that she can hire employees and create jobs in her community in the near future.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original clients loan was dispursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your inital gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
