Doris Takyiwaa is a dedicated wife and mother to three children living in Ghana. While her husband works as a carpenter and her children attend school, Doris occupies her time as a hairdresser in her salon business. For thirteen years, Doris has owned this business but has struggled to expand due to a lack of capital. A friend suggested she partner with Opportunity International for a loan. Though reluctant at first, Doris decided to ignore her fears and seek financial assistance from Opportunity International. Upon receiving a loan, Doris invested in hair products for use in her salon and bought a stock of hair products to sell in her newly created provision store. On the topic of her increased income from her improved business, Doris remarked, "I am very happy now because I have a stabilized income and my family is doing tremendously well." Doris is hopeful for the future of both her business and her family, and she dreams of expanding her provision store in the future.
