Grace Amankwah is a hardworking mother living in Nsawam, Ghana, with her husband and two children. For many years, she has sold diapers to her community while her husband works at the hospital. However, Grace’s sales were inconsistent, and the family struggled to afford their basic necessities day to day. In hopes that a second business would allow her family to become more financially stable, Grace opened up a cosmetics shop. The cosmetic business struggled to get off the ground though, because Grace could only afford a limited capital. Grace discovered a solution to her dilemma when she heard about the loan and valuable financial training she could receive from Opportunity International. Because you are building your cabi business, Grace was able to purchase a wider variety of cosmetic products in bulk. This attracted new customers to her shop and ensured that her most popular items were always in stock. This greatly increased Grace’s sales and provided a more stable weekly income for her family. Grace is happy that she and her husband no longer struggle to afford all of the needs of their children, like their uniforms and books for school. She looks forward to utilizing her new entrepreneurial expertise to continue to grow both of her business and would like to add towels to her inventory so that she can meet more of the needs of her community.
