Liza Marquez's motto is: “Just continue giving your best effort in your business; someday you will also reap its success!” Liza lives with her family in Bohol, Philippines, where she and her husband operate a furniture shop. She also manufactures "bolos" knives with intricate wooden cases. Despite the couple's wealth of experience in woodcarving, they still struggled financially because even when sales were high, they weren't enough to cover the cost of their five children's education. Then Liza's neighbor introduced her to Opportunity International, and everything began to change. After completing financial literacy training, she received her first loan, which she invested into her woodworking shop. As Liza's business began to grow again, she was able to hire additional employees. Her income is more stable now, and she is better able to support her family's needs. Liza wants to express her gratitude for Opportunity's partnership because they are helping her achieve her dreams for her business and her family. Looking ahead, Liza plans to invest a second loan into her business to sustain its growth.
