JJustine Karungi lives in Kyenyangi, Uganda, with her six children. After her husband died, Justine opened a retail shop and a bar to provide for her family. For years, her earnings supported her children's school fees and other needs, but she was struggling to make enough money to fully sustain her family. Justine wanted to expand her businesses and provide a better life for her children, but she didn't have the capital she needed to take her shop to the next level. Justine had heard many stories of community members having positive experiences with Opportunity International, and she decided to talk to a staff member there. Justine decided to partner with Opportunity, and after she completed financial literacy training, she received her first loan. She used the loan to increase her shop's inventory, and with an expanded product selection, Justine has attracted more customers and increased her sales. Her earnings ensure that she can provide for her children without so much stress. In the future, Justine's dream is to expand her business and provide for her children's higher education.
