Opportunity International Client Frida Nyanjura

Frida Nyanjura is a hardworking mother and entrepreneur who lives in Uganda with her husband and children. For years, Frida has owned and operated a bar in the Kyenyangi Trading Center where she serves beverages to customers in her community. Each morning, she wakes up early to clean her shop and prepare for the day. She loves her customers and her work; however, she’s run into challenges like inventory shortages and the occasional difficult customer. Despite her hard work, it hasn’t been easy for Frida; in fact, there was a time she worried she would not be able to pay for her children’s school fees. Everything began to change for Frida when a friend encouraged her to join Opportunity International. After joining, Friday received financial training and a loan to purchase beverages in bulk. With more drinks to sell and a greater variety, Frida was able to attract new customers and increase her sales. Looking to the future, Frida dreams of saving up enough to send her children to college. Thanks to her loan, Frida can continue to grow her business while saving for her family’s future and improved quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
