Comfort Ophelia lives in Antoa Krobo, Ghana, and has worked hard to support her family over the years. Comfort became a widow at a young age, and tragedy struck again when her children passed away. She is now the sole provider for her three granddaughters, who are all in school. For fifteen years, Comfort ran a fruit stand in her community’s market as her main source of income, but when she became responsible for all of the needs of her granddaughters she knew that her small income would no longer be sufficient. Everything changed for Comfort and her family when she found out about the loan and financial training she could receive from Opportunity International. With her loan, Comfort was able to buy her fruits in bulk and she also purchased a wider variety of produce to sell, which attracted new customers to her stand and greatly increased her sales. This growth allowed Comfort to more comfortably afford all of her granddaughters’ school fees and supplies. Comfort is excited to continue to grow her business, and she would like to use her next loan to purchase a food processor to sell fresh fruit juice to her customers as well.
