Angelica lives with her husband and their two children in Cartagena, Colombia. To provide for her family, Angelica started a business selling cakes and beverages. One day, a loan officer from Opportunity International visited her neighborhood and told her about the Trust Group program. Angelica thought that a Trust Group would help her improve her business, so she took the initiative to form one with other members of her community. Because of her partnership with Opportunity, Angelica received valuable financial training and a loan, which she invested into her business. She purchased beverages in bulk, which helped her cut down on supply costs. Angelica says she’s happy that her sales have increased. She also started selling meals at lunchtime and reached her first goal, which was to sell 15 meals each day. Angelica views her goals and achievements as proof that her business is expanding and that she’s improving her quality of life. She has big plans for the future. Angelica wants to buy a house for her family and to open a restaurant with a large terrace. Her dedication to improving the lives of children in her community is what keeps her going.
