Esperence Mukamugambira lives in Kicukiro, Rwanda, with her husband and four children. To help support her family, Esperence sells shoes to her neighbors in her community. However, as her children have grown, so have her family’s expenses. Esperence found it difficult to afford all of the family’s basic necessities as well as her children’s school fees on her small business income. She knew that she needed to find some way to help her business become more lucrative, but she wasn’t sure how to begin to grow her business. Esperence found the solution she was looking for when she heard about the loan and financial training she could receive from Opportunity International. With her first loan, she was able to purchase her inventory of shoes in bulk, which helped increased her daily sales. Her business thrived with this expansion, and she is excited to increase the number of shoes and variety of styles available for her customers. Esperence hopes to continue to grow her business so that she can pay all of her children’s school fees, and she would also like to build a house for her family someday.
