Sarah Tiwaa lives in Abem-Techiman, Ghana, with her husband and their two school-aged children. To partner with her husband in providing for their children's education and the family's other needs, Sarah started a business selling footwear. She had many loyal customers, who admired her business for the quality of goods she sold. However, Sarah still struggled to earn enough income for her family. She wanted to expand her business, but she lacked the capital she needed to do so. Sarah found the solution to her business problem when joined Opportunity International. After completing financial literacy training, Sarah received her first loan, which she invested in her business. She said it brought a "turnaround," allowing her to expand her inventory to include a wider selection of shoes and meet her customers' growing demands. Now, Sarah is able to take care of her family because of her successful business. Her dream for the future is to have her own storefront and become her town's primary retailer for footwear.
