Opportunity International Client EMMA AGUILAR

Emma Aguilar lives in the Philippines with her husband and children. Before joining Opportunity, Emma was completely dependent on her husband as she had no income of her own. Because of this, she was judged and insulted by her community. Emma wanted to start a small business of her own, which is why she became interested in Opportunity. With financial training and a loan from Opportunity, Emma was able to open a Sari-Sari (convenience) store. Her store became so popular that she is able to expand her business. With her business success, Emma plans to help her neighbors by loaning items they can't afford right away. Opportunity has not only helped Emma financially they have also helped her spiritually and socially, as she has
been able to make friends with her co-members and become well-acquainted with the Opportunity staff. Emma dreams that her business will continue to thrive. She also hopes her children have a successful future in whatever career path they choose. Emma's motto is, "Share to others whatever blessings that you have." She wants to thank God for the blessings that she receives, and to Opportunity for trusting and helping her with her business.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
