Therese Uwiturije is a single mother living in the city of Kicukiro, Rwanda. For many years, she has sold vegetables, mainly onions and ginger, in the city’s trading center as her family’s main source of income. However, as the sole provider for her child, Therese worried if she would be able to afford their daily necessities as well as her child’s school fees. She knew she needed to find some way to expand her business to be able to save money for their futures. When Therese heard about the loan and financial training she could receive from Opportunity International, she knew she had found the solution to her troubles. With her loan, Therese would like to purchase her stock of onions and ginger in bulk, which would allow her to sell to more customers in a variety of markets in nearby villages. The increase in profits that Therese would see from this expansion would aid her in paying for her child’s school fees and would also help Therese buy a plot of land to build a house for her family.
