Luanne Librando is a hardworking single mother living with her children in Iloilo, Philippines. For many years, Luanne has sold frozen foods to make a living for her family. However, as Luanne’s children grew and began to go to school, Luanne found it difficult to pay for all of their basic necessities as well as their school fees on her small business profits. She knew she needed to find a way to expand her business but wasn’t sure where to start. Luanne found the solution to her dilemma when her friend told her about the loan and financial training she could receive from Opportunity International. With her loan, Luanne was able to pay her children’s school fees and purchase her inventory for her business in bulk, which kept her costs low and attracted new customers to her stand. This increase in business profits has allowed Luanne’s family to become more financially stable, and Luanne is excited to utilize her new entrepreneurial training to open up a second business selling barbecued food to her community. Her dream is that her businesses will thrive so that she and her children can have successful futures.
