Life was challenging for Annaliza Delgado, a widow living in the village of Mayondon in the Philippines. Her husband's death left her to take care of five children alone, which was a huge financial responsibility for her to carry. Seeing the struggles that she was facing, a friend of Annaliza introduced her to Opportunity and encouraged her to join. With the loan they received, they built a center for their community. Annaliza and her friend invited people in their community to open up businesses in their center to earn some additional income. Annaliza and her friend saw the bigger picture—financial stability for the whole community, not just themselves. Annaliza started a grocery business in the center, which was so successful that she was able to send her five children to school. She hopes that her children will be able to finish school, giving them a better future and more opportunities. Annaliza thanks God every day for guiding them through life, her children for staying strong during their family's hardships, and Opportunity for helping her provide a better life for her family and her community.
