Opportunity International Client Annet Nayiga

Annet Nayiga works hard to provide for her husband and four children in Kisasi, Uganda. For many years, she has owned and operated a hair salon in her community. However, Annet noticed that while she attracted many customers during the festive seasons, her business struggled during the off-season. She worried that her family would never become financially stable if something didn’t change. When Annet heard about the loan and financial training she could receive from Opportunity International, she knew that she had found a solution to her financial troubles. Annet invested her loan in purchasing a wider variety of products so that she could provide more services at her salon. By expanding her selection of services, Annet attracted new customers to her shop and significantly increased her profits even during the off-season. Annet also hired her sister as an employee to help her in the shop, and now she can service more customers in a day. Annet is excited to see the growth of her business, and she plans on beginning to offer services for men shortly as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
