Opportunity International Client Rashid Namutebi

Rashid Namutebi is a hardworking mother who lives in Wamala Kinyarwanda, Uganda, with her husband, Ntambi Mikidad, and their four children. For the past several years, Rashid has owned a pharmacy in town where she sells medicine to sick customers. She works long days to ensure her clients are satisfied, but despite her hard work, Isabel once struggled to pay for her child’s school fees. Everything began to change for Rashid when a friend introduced her to Opportunity International. After joining, Rashid received financial training and a loan to purchase more medicine. With a greater diversity of medicine and products, Rashid was able to provide for more customers and increase her sales. Rashid cares deeply for her community and about empowering female entrepreneurs, so she became a chairperson in her Trust Group because of Opportunity International. Thanks to the loan she received, Rashid can continue to grow her business, inspire her neighbors and send her children to school.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
