Olivia Nabanya lives in Majabo, Uganda, with her six children. For many years, Olivia has sold timber at the local market. Olivia’s rent at the market is high, and it hasn’t been easy for her. Despite these challenges, however, she goes above and beyond to ensure her clients are happy, so she’s been able to stay in business. Olivia has been met with struggles in her personal life as well. When her sister passed a few years back, Olivia was heartbroken. But she was even more heartbroken for her orphaned nieces and nephews, so she took them in as her own and adopted them. Despite her hard work and loving heart, Olivia has often found herself struggling to make ends meet. Everything began to change when a friend encouraged Olivia to join Opportunity International. After joining, Olivia received financial training and a loan to purchase timber in bulk. With more wood to sell at a lower wholesale cost, Olivia was able to attract new customers and increase sales. In the future, Olivia dreams of saving up enough to build a home for her children.
