Opportunity International Client Winnie Nanyonga

Winnie Nanyonga is a hardworking mother who lives in Uganda with her husband, Deo Kizito, and their three children. For many years, Winnie has been a landlord for several houses in her community as her primary source of income. To make ends meet, she also owns a beauty salon. Not only does Winnie work hard on her businesses, but she also works hard to be a loving neighbor and friend. She even adopted two orphans in her community gave them a place to call home. Despite her hard work, there was a time Winnie worried she would not be able to pay for her children’s school fees. Everything began to change for Winnie when a friend introduced her to Opportunity International. After joining, Winnie received financial training and a loan to invest in home renovations for the units she rents out. With the improved amenities, Winnie was able to attract new renters. Down the line, Winnie dreams of maintaining her role as a landlord while growing her salon business too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
