Opportunity International Client Epiphanie YAMURAGIYE

Epithanie Yamuragiye is a hard-working mother of six who lives with her husband in the city of Kicukiro, Rwanda. For many years, she has run a shop in her community, selling groceries and ingredients to her neighbors. However, with such a large family, it is not always easy for Epithanie to provide for all of their daily needs on her small business income. She knew she needed to grow her shop somehow to be able to afford all of her children’s school fees in addition to her family's expenses. Epithanie was excited to hear about the loan and valuable financial training she could receive from Opportunity International because she knew that it could drastically change her business. With her loan, she plans to purchase her stock of rice, maize, flour, milk, sugar, and beans in bulk. With more inventory, she will be able to attract more customers to her shop and greatly increase her weekly sales. Her profits will be used to continue to expand her business, as well as to pay for her children’s school fees and insurance for the family.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
