Opportunity International Client Francoise UWAMAHORO

Francoise Uwamahoro pursued independent entrepreneurship at a young age by opening up a shop in her hometown of Kicukiro, Rwanda. At her shop, she sells salt, sugar, rice, and matchboxes. Now married and supporting two children, Francoise has found that her small business income is no longer enough to support her growing family. She knew she needed to grow her business to meet her family’s needs but wasn’t sure how to do that without some help. Everything changed for Francoise when she found out about the loan and financial training she could receive from Opportunity International. She plans to use her loan to buy her shop’s inventory of ingredients in bulk to increase her weekly sales. She would also like to expand her inventory to attract new customers to her shop. Francoise is excited that this business growth will allow her to more comfortably afford the school fees for her children while she plans on the expansion of her shop in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
