Opportunity International Client Yvette UWAMAHORO

Yvette Uwamahoro does her best to make a living for her three children in Kimironko, Rwanda. For a few years, she has run a shop providing her customers with various goods. However, Yvette struggled with a lack of capital. As the sole provider for her children, Yvette worried that she did not have the means to be able to expand her business and become more financially stable. When Yvette heard about the loan and financial training she could receive from Opportunity International, she knew she had found the solution she had been looking for. She used her loan to purchase her most popular products in bulk so that she can keep her shelves properly stocked. She also invested in purchasing a wider selection of goods, such as rice, sugar, and water, to meet more of the needs of her community. This growth attracted new customers to her store and increased her sales greatly. Yvette is excited about the more sustainable income her business can now provide for her family. Her dream is to use her new entrepreneurial expertise to continue expanding her business so that she can purchase land and build a house for her family.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do entrepreneurs become Opportunity International loan clients?

Opportunity International conducts interviews with prospective clients to get a better understanding of their situation, so we can construct a loan that’s tailored to their needs and capabilities.

If I help fund a loan, should I expect to be paid back?

When you help to fund a loan, you are making a donation to Opportunity International. When those funds are repaid by the client, the funds remain in the country where the original client’s loan was disbursed, so that it can help fund more loans. Your initial gift continues to have an impact after the first loan is repaid.
